Matthew McConaughey addresses Elvis on Netflix – but sounds like his surfer dude self

It’s not alright, alright, alright.
As “Elvis” star Austin Butler chases an Oscar for his portrayal of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll in person, Netflix announced on Monday that Matthew McConaughey will be providing the voice the hip swinging legend in a brand new animated spy series Agent Elvis.
“Elvis Presley always dreamed of being a superhero – now Priscilla Presley is making his dream come true,” tweeted the streaming giant of the project, which is led by rock icon John Eddie and Elvis’ ex-wife.
Unfortunately, McConaughey received mixed reactions for the role, as the Dallas Buyers Club star doesn’t sound like the icon at all, more like his usual surfer dude.
Originally announced in 2019, the show follows Elvis, who is known for his killer dance moves by day but becomes an American super spy with a trigger-happy sidekick by night.
Archer writer Mike Arnold serves as showrunner and writer.

“THE VOICE,” tweeted one confused user who objected to McConaughey’s casting and also sent a gif of a confused looking child.
“I like the concept, but the voiceover…don’t I?” said another.
“As a lifelong Elvis fan, I just have to say this” A fan tweetedshare their feelings via a puking emoji.

The Post has reached out to McConaughey for comment.
Other users have criticized Netflix for releasing the show so shortly before the death of Elvis’ daughter Lisa Marie Presley, who died on January 12.
“I’m sure this has been in the works for some time, but Jesus Crimbo, out of respect for Lisa Marie’s family, could you put the brakes on this for a few months.” slammed a user.
Agent Elvis will be available on Netflix sometime next month, with a premiere date yet to be announced.
