Matt Hancock shared his candid take on Liz Truss’ ‘political career’ I’m a celebrity… get me out of here.
The former Conservative Party health secretary has faced open questions from his housemates since the show began earlier this month.
While most of those inquiries have centered on his handling of the pandemic, as well as the controversy over the lockdown rule he has broken, the subject of his Tory colleagues emerged on Tuesday night’s (November 15) episode.
When Coronation Street Star Sue Cleaver asked Hancock “what went wrong with Truss,” who resigned as PM after just 45 days in office. He replied: “In a way, you were unlucky that world interest rates were rising at this time. You also submitted a financial statement in which you say, ‘We’re going to do all these expensive things and we’re not going to say how we do them will pay.”
Cleaver then asked Hancock, “Where is she now?” to which he replied, “Your political career is over. Completely done. No ambiguity at all.”
news reader and Permissive women Moderator Charlene White wondered why Tory party members “opted for the less experienced” Truss, who was originally chosen to replace Boris Johnson over Rishi Sunak.
“I think it’s just about how Boris got kicked out,” Hancock said, adding, “It was just about people seeing Rishi wielding the knife at Boris.” He also shared a text message that he Johnson had sent after Truss’ resignation.
Hancock also took offense at White’s assessment that these Tory members were “punishing the whole country by putting in someone with less experience”.
He said: “That implies a malicious motive which is not fair. But they definitely took a negative view of disloyalty towards Boris.”

White told producer sin the Bushtucker Telegraph that tormenting Hancock about politics was “sport.”
Last week, Hancock tearfully told his housemates that he was “seeking forgiveness” for breaking his own lockdown rules during the pandemic. While the majority of his co-stars supported him, DJ Chris Moyles expressed caution.
