Massachusetts man arrested after attacking police station with chainsaw: cops

A chainsaw-wielding man was arrested after attacking a Massachusetts police station and barricading himself and his two young children inside his home during an hours-long standoff on Sunday, cops said.

Brien Buckley, 35, is facing a dozen charges including child endangerment and assault with a dangerous weapon after attempting to break into the Cohasset, Massachusetts police station, authorities said.

Police said Buckley drove across the police station lawn, crashed into a tree on the property, exited his pickup truck and stormed into police headquarters at about 2:30 p.m. with a gas-powered chainsaw.

He began “damaging the station’s lobby with the saw” and “hacked at the security door and attempted to gain access to a restricted area” where a civilian receptionist was stationed, police said.

That civilian on duty at the front desk pressed an 911 button, urging officers to rush to the lobby, Cohasset Police Chief Bill Quigley said.

“We had a civilian receptionist. She was able to barricade herself and call officers for help,” Quigley said.

After his attack on police headquarters, Buckley fled to his home chainsaw in hand and barricaded himself in with his two young children, both under the age of 5.

“After hours of negotiation, the man became more unpredictable to the point where SWAT wardens asked permission to enter the home due to the increasingly clear and present danger to the children,” police said, according to Newsflash.

Police were forced to taser the insane man after he resisted arrest, and members of the SWAT team carried his terrified children outside and took them to safety.

Buckley was taken into custody and taken to a local hospital.

Buckley has a criminal record, police say, but this is the first time he’s attempted to enter the police station.

Buckley faces charges Monday in Quincy Circuit Court on charges including assault with a dangerous weapon using a chainsaw, three counts of criminal damage, two counts of child endangerment, resisting arrest, driving in danger, illegal operation of a motor vehicle. disorderly conduct, disturbance of the peace and wanton destruction of a tree.
