Mass sexual assault suspects can be charged with kidnapping, strangulation and more

DENVER (KDVR) – A man Denver Police Believe Multiple Sexual Assaults Are Involved is currently facing 10 counts in connection with an alleged assault.

Abiye Adamu, 31, is accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman on November 30 during an attack that began in the downtown Denver area.

Fees include:

  • Sexual assault by overcoming will with a deadly weapon (two counts)
  • Sexual assault by force or threat (two counts)
  • Sexual assault by threatening to kidnap (two counts)
  • Kidnap victim for sex (once)
  • Kidnap the victim with a deadly weapon (one turn)
  • Second level attack – choke (once)
  • Threats with real weapons or simulated weapons (some amount)

The statement about the alleged assault remains sealed as investigators say there may be more victims. Specifics are not available at this time, but police have released the locations to which this alleged attack and three other attacks he is believed to be involved in.

  • 17th Street and Wynkoop Street (near Union Station)
  • East 16th Avenue and North Logan Phố Street
  • 17th Street and North Broadway
  • East Colfax Avenue and North Clarkson Street

Adamu was charged with soliciting prostitution in March 2020. At the time, it was reported that he was driving a black Honda Civic with a Lyft label. Lyft told FOX31 he hasn’t worked with the company in over a year.

Denver police said the recent attacks also involved a black Honda Civic, but found no mention of the Lyft sticker in the publicly available documents.

Adamu’s arrest was announced on December 2, but he was not formally charged until December 3.

Police said they believe more victims may be asked to call the Denver Police Department at 720-913-2000. Victims from outside Denver are asked to contact the department where the assault took place.
