Mark Feehily is missing upcoming Westlife live shows after contracting pneumonia

Westlife star Mark Feehily has been forced to pull out of the band’s upcoming tour dates after contracting pneumonia.

The Irish music group are currently embarking on their The Wild Dreams tour around the world but Feehily missed Friday night (25 November) show due to a fever.

On Monday (November 28), the 42-year-old announced that he was still missing a few appointments after being diagnosed with pneumonia.

“Hey all fans, Mark here,” he wrote. “First of all I would like to sincerely thank everyone for sending their love and get well messages – it means so much.

“I was really disappointed to miss the weekend shows in Newcastle but on Friday I was feeling quite unwell and the doctors confirmed it was pneumonia.”

Feehily continued: “I know it’s scary when you first hear the word ‘pneumonia’ but luckily I got to the doctor and hospital very quickly and got the antibiotics as soon as possible so is currently everything under control.”

Feehily explained that he had been advised to rest and continue his course of antibiotics, saying he was “feeling a little bit better every day” and that it “should be over in no time”.

“However, that means I’ll be missing more gigs, which is awful, but I’ll be back on stage as soon as I get the all-clear,” he said.

“Until then, Nicky, Shane and Kian will continue to fly the Westlife flag for all of us. Please shout even louder than usual for these three legends in my absence.”
