‘Many clubs interested’: Manager admits he would like a ‘outstanding’ Crystal Palace ace

Hull City manager Liam Rosenior has confirmed his interest in signing the “outstanding” Jesurun Rak-Sakyi from Premier League club Crystal Palace this month.

After taking League One by storm at Charlton Athletic in 2022/23, a stint in the Championship seems the natural next step for a player whose blistering pace, overwhelming skill and impressive final score inevitably draw comparisons to a certain Wilfried Zaha have caused.

According to the Hull Daily MailDiscussions are currently underway to move to Humberside. And while Rosenior knows a move to Hull City is far from a done deal – he concedes a number of other prospects are interested in Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sakyi – the Tigers remain hopeful a deal can materialize sooner agreed sooner rather than later.

“We are aware of him. I’ve known Jez for a long time,” former Derby County manager Rosenior told the BBC Humberside Sport.

“I watched him. He had an outstanding loan from Charlton. There are a lot of clubs interested and he’s someone we’re keeping an eye on at the moment.”

Crystal Palace faces the decision of Jesurun Rak-Sakyi

Rak-Sakyi scored 15 goals and set up 10 more for the Addicks. Whether Crystal Palace are ready to let the Southwark-born 20-year-old go may depend on what happens to the future of Michael Olise and Ebere Eze, both of whom are drawing admiring looks from wealthier Premier League clubs.

Palace have already lost club legend Zaha to Turkish giants Galatasaray.

“Usually with a young player there are a lot of disagreements. First of all, it’s fair to thank Rak-Sakyi for stepping out of his comfort zone in the Under-21s,” said Charlton manager Dean Holden talkSPORT.

“Playing men’s football at such a big club puts a lot of pressure on you. I was immediately smitten with him. I picked a team within two days of being at the club and he wasn’t in the starting XI, I was more defensive in the first game.

“Then, in the second game, he came onto the pitch very quickly. And he’s been playing almost every minute of my time since Christmas.

“He’s just an incredible one-on-one player in terms of his dribbling skills. He can get knocked off the ball and lose his balance, but he knows where the pitch is.

“(Rak-Sakyi) is not selfish either. He’s not someone who only takes five steps to look good. He is very effective. So if there is a player who needs to be used on goal, he will play that pass.

“Some of the things he did literally amazed you.”

Hull is also keen to sign Scott Twine from Burnley.
