Manchester: Man dies after being hit by tram in Deansgate

A man died after being hit by a tram Manchester Downtown.

Emergency services rushed to Deansgate-Castlefield Metrolink station just after 11pm on Sunday but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim’s age is not known, but it is understood he was an adult male.

An investigation was launched when officers called for witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Matthew Waggett said: ‘This is a tragic incident and investigations are still underway to determine what happened in the moments leading up to the collision, and to fully understand how this collision happened.

‘We ask that anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have been on the Metrolink platform at Deansgate-Castlefield in the time leading up to the incident please contact police as soon as possible. good.’
