Man walking home from early morning Bonita Springs rollover accident

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. – A man escaped a car rollover accident in downtown Bonita Springs early Tuesday morning.

The driver fell asleep at about 1:35 a.m. and crashed right in front of a Benson grocery store on Wilson Street near Old US 41, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the man was driving an SUV when he hit a palm tree, bush and a sign before the vehicle overturned.

The driver was okay after the crash and was able to walk home, according to the LCSO. The delegate said he lived near the area where the plane crashed.

A tow truck arrived around 2:30 a.m.

Old US 41’s lane was closed while crews investigated the crash and has since been reopened.
