Man Utd transfer blow with Kalvin Phillips ready to slam opponents and sign new long-term deal with Leeds amid interest
KALVIN PHILLIPS are ready to turn down interest from Manchester United to sign a new deal with boyhood club Leeds.
The England star, 26 years old, has been regarding the move to Old Trafford as temporary boss Ralf Rangnick eye reinforcements midfield.
But Phillips himself revealed that he wanted to stay at Elland Road.
The midfielder is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, and told Letters: “I just want to focus on getting in shape, but I talk to the owner regularly.
“I want a new contract. I’m very happy here.”
A £60m move has been launched, with Liverpool are also said to be interested above Leeds hero.
When asked about his hefty price tag, Phillips joked: “I just think it’s psychological, but I wouldn’t say I’m not worth £60m!”
SunSport exclusively revealed earlier this month that Phillips doesn’t want to upset Leeds fans and damaged his status at the club by moving to Old Trafford.

He is also said to be wary of a move to United due to feared his Leeds-based family would be abused from local supporters.
His current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2024, but the whites will be desperate to tie him to a new long-term contract.
Phillips is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury that could keep him inactive for up to two months.
The midfielder was forced off the field in the second half of the match 2-2 draw against Brentford at the beginning of the month.
He was also booked separately surgery on his shoulder after the nasty ups and downs at the end of last season.
He postponed going under the knife for the summer to feature at Euro 2020, where he starred for By Gareth Southgate edge.
