Man Utd demanded to spend at least £40m on Monaco star Badiashile in transfer bidding war with West Ham and Newcastle

MANCHESTER UNITED will have to offer Monaco at least £40m to regain pole position in the race to sign Benoit Badiashile.

United rejected a £22m offer for the France Under-21 defender in the summer of 2020.

Old Trafford club are still interested in Badiashile but now face stiffer competition and Monaco can confidently create a bidding war for their newest young star.

West Ham approached the Ligue 1 club about the 6ft 4ins centre-back in January.
