Man leads Houston police on a chase after allegedly ramming a car at PetSmart on Taylor Street

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A man is facing multiple charges after leading police on a chase after allegedly pulling in front of a PetSmart store.

During the chase, Houston police said the man hit a truck on Memorial Drive and then an HPD patrol vehicle before getting out and running away.

ABC13 viewer video shows police chasing the man down Memorial Drive before he turned and headed the other way.

Officers initially pursued the man for allegedly ramming his vehicle into the front doors of the PetSmart on Taylor Street around 9:47 p.m. Monday.

The man attempted to run over employees after driving into the store, HPD said.

Investigators said it was unclear why the man drove his vehicle into the store but believed he may have mental health issues or be using drugs at the time of the incident.

A K-9 unit caught the man in an alley after he ran away after the chase, police said.

Officials said he faces multiple charges including assault and dodging a crime.
