Man jumps to his death from the roof of the chic Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York

A man jumped to his death from a height of 750 feet from the roof of a five-star hotel in Manhattan on Thursday evening, according to police.
Police believe the man jumped from the roof of the posh Mandarin Oriental Hotel on Columbus Circle just after 9 p.m., police and sources said.
The unknown man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man, who appeared not to be a guest at the hotel, is believed to have taken a freight elevator to the roof before jumping, police sources said.
On the way down, he crashed into the hotel tent and his body split in half, sources said.

An arm was found across the street.
Sources said he appeared to be wearing pajamas.
According to the police, there were no other injuries and there is currently no suspicion of a criminal offense.
Officials suspect the man may have strolled into the famous Mandarin Oriental Hotel, where a standard room with a view of Central Park can cost more than $1,195.

The hotel occupies the top 19 floors of the 55-story Deutsche Bank Center Tower, home to some of Hollywood’s most elite celebrities.
Actress Cynthia Nixon, model Gisele Bundchen and musician Jay-Z are just a few of the celebrities who once owned residences in the tower, which is on Billionaire’s Row.
