MANCHESTER CITY v Liverpool – where does it stand as a Premier League rivalry?
That’s the question floating around right now.
It all goes in cycles, but what makes this rivalry so good is how they dominate everyone else — and they don’t change for anyone.
City won’t change just because they play Liverpool and vice versa.
It’s just two teams that are confident, know what they’re doing and will just say, “Let’s do it and let the best team win.”
That is ultimately the reason for the rivalry as no one knows who will come out on top.
I couldn’t bet my life who would be the absolute winner.
Unlike United and Arsenal where there was real hate, City and Liverpool have it competitive respect. They all want success and both know they are the best.

I don’t think there has to be hate, it’s just respect for how good both teams are.
Everyone across the country will be talking about this game.
My dressing room in Birmingham will talk about it when we travel against Nottingham Forest.
It’s a title decider – it doesn’t get much better than that. If City wins it’s over, but if Liverpool wins they keep winning.
And not just in the Premier League. Look at what they’re doing in the Champions League.
I don’t think both United and Arsenal were at that level.
They were challenging, but they didn’t compete in all competitions on all fronts.
That’s what these guys do. You have to tip your hat and the squads they have are something else.
I saw City had a ‘reshuffled’ foursome the other day and it was worth £200m. It is ridiculous.
All both sides need now is that new version of a No. 9 in the middle.
If one of City or Liverpool gets that, they go to another level and we’re all screwed, aren’t we?
What other exciting job is there? All others are either in transition or not in a competitive league.
These guys are here to stay, especially as Klopp is sure to contribute to his one-league title.
There are those who think he needs someone else to be considered great as Prem.
But the likes of Wenger and Fergie have had a longevity that no one will ever have again, so we can’t compare this generation to that.
Plus, just winning the one is hard enough!
I’m really looking forward to this game. I’ll probably curse it now, but it won’t end 0-0, will it? It just can’t get boring.
Sometimes it’s played up at those big Super Sundays and then it’s a goalless or a narrow 1-0 win. That will not be the case.
Luckily for us, Pep and Klopp have adjusted to attacking and inspiring.
BOTH WOULD DO ME
SO TROY IF YOU COULD PLACE ON ONE OF THE SIDES NOW – IN YOUR WEDDING – WHO WOULD IT BE?
TD: Either – because I would get about 40 chances a game.
That would be enough for me, for my style.
Klopp might show me some love, but I wouldn’t mind being yelled at by Pep.
So all in all let me fall into both and I think I would do everything right because they are a joke. You could play with eight players and still win!
It would be every player’s dream to play for both – that’s why people rush to these clubs.
It’s not all about finances.
