Man charged with assault for pushing NYPD employee into subway pole

A man was arrested Wednesday in a violent attack on a lower Manhattan subway train that left a civilian NYPD employee with a fractured eye socket, police officers said.

Brunson, a 43-year-old Muslim, has been charged with assault after allegedly pushing the 53-year-old woman against a subway mast so hard that he fractured her eye socket and cheekbone, police said.

The attack happened after the woman boarded a No. 4 tube at Fulton Street station around 11pm on Monday.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of facial injuries. The suspect, who fled after the attack, was described as 6ft 3in tall and weighing around 250lbs.

According to police sources, Brunson was arrested in 2019 for robbery.
