Man arrested on suspicion of murder after another fatally fell out of window

A 43-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after another man died after falling from a window in Liverpool.

Police were called around 9.55pm on Sunday after a man in his 40s fell from the property on Longmoor Lane near the junction of Inglis Road in Walton.

Emergency services attended and the man was taken to hospital where he died, Merseyside Police said in a statement.

The arrested 43-year-old was known to the alleged victim and was taken into custody for questioning.

Officers conducted forensic investigations and went from house to house at the scene after the incident while nearby security footage was also reviewed.

Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes due to road closures on Longmoor Lane between Greenwich Road and Hall Road.

Detective Inspector Gary Stratton said: “We are at an extremely early stage of an investigation and I would urge anyone who has any information to come forward.

“An investigation is ongoing to determine exactly what happened and our officers are on site as we conduct house-to-house investigations and gather information.

“If you have seen or heard of any suspicious behavior in the area tonight, please let us know. If you have been driving down Longmoor Lane and have dashcam footage please check and contact us if you see anything. Any information you possess could be critical to our investigation.”

Anyone who witnessed or had any information about this incident was asked to contact police via Twitter, Facebook or by calling 101 at reference 22000315871. Alternatively, information may be submitted anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers.
