Man, 29, fatally shot in the head on Brooklyn Street: police officers

A 29-year-old man was fatally shot in the head on a Brooklyn street early Tuesday, authorities said.

The victim was beaten around 1:40 a.m. near the corner of Marcy Avenue and Lexington Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant, police said.

He was taken to Kings County Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The motive for the killing remained unclear later in the morning.

The victim’s name has not been released pending family notification.

About an hour later, a 21-year-old man was shot in the torso at the corner of Atlantic and Autumn Avenues in Cypress Hills, authorities said.

He was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where he is in critical condition.

The circumstances of this shooting are also unknown.

The violence in Brooklyn came hours after an 80-year-old woman was struck by an apparent stray bullet at around 11:30 p.m. on Memorial Day at her home in South Ozone Park, Queens, police officers and police sources said.
