Macy Gray tells critics to fuck off after receiving backlash for anti-trans comments

Macy Gray has told her critics to fuck off after making controversial comments about the trans community.

At a performance on Pier Morgan Uncensored On Monday (July 4), the 54-year-old singer told presenter Morgan: “I’ll say that and everyone will hate me, but as a woman just because you change [body] Sharing doesn’t make you a woman, sorry.”

Gray’s statement followed a discussion on “the issue of transgender people in sport.” During the interview, Morgan claimed he supports transgender rights, “but not when there are people who were born with obviously physically superior bodies who are circling and beating up women in sports.”

Gray also said she would use her/his pronouns for trans women if they wished, “but that doesn’t make you a woman.”

The “I Try” singer’s comments sparked outrage on social media, with some labeling her “terf” — an acronym for trans exclusionary radical feminist.

Following the backlash, Gray initially released the following statement: “I have nothing but love for the LGBT+ and transgender community and have been a supporter since day one.

“My statement to Piers Morgan was grossly misunderstood. i hate nobody I respect everyone’s right to be comfortable in their body and to live their own truth.”

But in a new post last night (July 6), she wrote: “Anyone who comes to my page threatening me and berating me – just because I said something you disagree with – be what you want , and fuck off.”
