Love Island stars remember Mike Thalassitis three years after his tragic death

TRIBUTES pour in for Love Island star Mike Thalassitis, who passed away three years ago aged 26.
Mike, who first rose to fame on Love Island in 2017, took his own life in March 2019 and many of his friends and co-stars left touching messages for the star on the anniversary of his death.

Marcel Somervile, who appeared alongside Mike on the ITV show, posted a pair of the couple together on Instagram with the caption: “Always thinking of my brother!
Mike’s co-star Montana Brown also posted a snap of the couple to her Instagram story, saying she “can’t believe” he’s gone.
Montana wrote, “Three years today, can’t believe it. What a gentle and sweet man left us far too soon. I know that he is now taking care of me and is at peace, which gives me great comfort.
“But on days like today, I will think of all the great memories we shared.”
Elsewhere, fans used Mike’s old social media accounts to leave tributes to the star.
Alongside a broken heart emoji, one person wrote, “I can’t believe it’s been three years since you left us.”
Echoing her comments, someone else said, “How has it been three years already? You are sorely missed, Mike.”
While a third added: “Never forget. I hope you have a good rest up there!”
Love Island had previously come under pressure to improve aftercare for its stars after Mike, former contestant Sophie Gradon in 2018 and presenter Caroline Flack committed suicide in 2020.
It was revealed last year that ITV bosses have introduced strict mental health protocols for the upcoming season.
