Loose camel caught after running away from Kansas Christmas scene

BONNER SPRINGS, Kan. (WDAFA camel that roamed Kansas for hours before being caught escaped a live nativity scene, according to police.

Bonner Springs Police Department officials said the camel’s leash broke while the animal was on display at the Agricultural Hall of Fame nativity scene Saturday night. The camel ran away before anyone noticed the matter.

A police department animal control officer said people in the area had been searching for the missing camel until 2 a.m. Sunday but had gone missing.

The dispatcher later notified Bonner Springs police that the camel was traveling on the K-7 freeway around 1:15 p.m. Sunday.

“If you have heard unbelievable stories, let us tell you they are true!” set wrote on Facebook. Officers and Animal Control spent the day chasing a stray camel. “

Officers herded the animal into the backyard before it was tied up and safely “detained” by an animal control officer.

The owners arrived with a rickshaw, loaded it with camels, and drove home.

“The camel has been reunited with its owner and will return to doing things with camels,” the ministry said.
