Logan Paul revealed he suffered a hand injury that doctors described as a “retirement end” for boxers after he screwed up a punch on a boxing arcade machine and ended up slamming into the wall instead.
Logan has not fought in a boxing match since his distancing against Floyd Mayweather in June 2021 and based on comments he made along the way episode 321 of the IMPULSIVE podcast, there seems to be a reason for this.
The Maverick broke his hand in the months following the fight. He breathed a punch at a boxing machine while drunk in Germany, and it was so bad that doctors told him it was the end of a boxer’s career.
“I see one of those arcade boxing machines in a bar and I said I have to do the high score because I’m a freaking boxer,” Logan explained. “I have an ego, and that’s my thing, you know, the boxing game.
“The bartender made it very clear to me, after seeing my strength on the first shot, that many men and women broke their hands on the pillar next to the game. I said man I’m a boxer. I’m not going to hit the damn wall.”
In the end, however, he did just that. “I move the bank and get a run-up. I’m going Happy Gilmore style. I hit that thing as hard as I can and in fact I hit the damn pillar right where he said I would.
“I knew right away that I had smashed my hand. I didn’t know how bad it was. I got to the hospital and they said dude you crushed your third metacarpal on your hand. It’s the most important joint in your hand, and for boxers, it’s a career-ending injury.”
It is unclear whether Logan followed the doctor’s call and finally hung up the gloves. He admitted the message was “very difficult to hear” and described the result as “very depressing” which may indicate he did it.
However, that hasn’t stopped him from making the switch to professional wrestling for WWE. Not only did he win his debut match at WrestleMania 38, but he also admitted that he’s considering going into wrestling full-time.
