Liverpool now have a golden chance to beat Arsenal against Moises Caicedo – Our View

Liverpool now have a fantastic opportunity to beat Arsenal by signing Moises Caicedo from Brighton.

What’s the matter?

Well, despite the fact Jurgen Klopp needs more midfield reinforcements than Mikel Arteta, the Gunners have seen a £60m bid for the Ecuador international international rejected while the Reds do nothing.

The Daily Mail believe Arsenal have upped their offer to £70m after Caicedo asked to leave, but Brighton want £80m to sell their No25 this month.

While it looks like the Gunners are in the driver’s seat, we believe Liverpool actually have a good chance of hijacking the negotiations given the circumstances.

First, Brighton are said to be more likely to sell Caicedo if they can sign a new midfielder before the deadline – according to Football London.

This revelation comes just days after the Daily Mail claimed Brighton would be keen to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Liverpool.

So if the Reds match Arsenal’s £60m bid and offer to throw in the England international as well, it would bring the total value of their bid closer to £80m, meeting Brighton’s asking price while also giving them a replacement.

Of course, given that Fenway Sports Group is currently looking to sell the club – according to The Athletic – many Liverpool fans will be pessimistic.

If there’s any cash to spend this month after signing Cody Gakpo for £35million, Liverpool will have to put it to good use in this player-plus-cash deal for Caicedo though.

Liverpool risk falling behind Arsenal even more if Caicedo joins the Gunners

As things stand, Liverpool have already allowed Arsenal to skip them as the Reds refuse to invest in the squad while the north Londoners do exactly the opposite.

After winning the Champions League in 2019, Liverpool failed to capitalize on their status as kings of Europe and are now slipping back into mediocrity, while Arsenal spend big to capitalize on their position at the top of the Premier League.

Now, with Caicedo moving to the Emirates Stadium, the gap between Arsenal and Liverpool will only widen.
