Khan vs Brook is finally HERE
Twenty years on from their first school fight and a whole decade after they initially vowed to beat each other on Sky Sports’ Ringside show, Amir Khan and Kell Brook are FINALLY dating.
There was almost nothing these two 35-year-olds could agree on at the time – other than a zero on their check for tonight’s game.
This week, Brook strongly denied Khan’s accusations of racism following his ‘poppadum chin’ comment
But they’ve been on the rise since before Bolton’s King Khan became a household name when he won a silver medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
With that, the baby-faced 17-year-old jumped on top of Brook in the opening order of the then British boxing era.
Khan’s Olympic final was watched by eight million people on terrestrial television, Brook’s unsupervised professional debut a few weeks later attended by only 1,000.
Khan then leveraged his fame to bring his massive PPV roadshow run to the US while Brook took the tough road to his IBF world title.
Even when supreme matchmaker Eddie Hearn asked them both to subscribe to his Matchroom franchise, Khan cut his contract three games early to get Brook hanged and face Terence Crawford instead.
But now – with very few roads left open for them and Sky Sports willing to throw packages at the pair – they will finally be crowned the 147 lbs throne of the North.
Brook will always insist Khan took him down to the very end, Khan will forever believe he was a top league before they even started.
It doesn’t matter now. We’re about to see which shadows can still shine.
