The snacks were tested, finding that many of them were likely contaminated and could not be sold.

Health officials are urging customers to throw out dried beef made on February 23 because of the bacteria.

“FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumer pantries. These products should be discarded or returned to the point of purchase,” the FDA said.

Listeria can cause fever, stomach problems and cramps. Pregnant women, unborn children and the elderly are at higher risk for the bacteria.

According to the FDA, there have been no confirmed reports of “side effects from the use of these products.”

However, people concerned about exposure to the bacteria are urged to contact their doctor.

Some of the brands affected by the recall are Bacon Mamma Jamma, Durbin Farms Market, Gold Mine Jerky and Jerked Out.

More than 1,634 pounds of the contaminated jerky were distributed to retail centers in New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Alabama, California, Michigan, North Carolina and Texas.

Other symptoms of Listeria infection include muscle pain, headaches, diarrhea, and gastrointestinal problems.
