Liam Payne clarifies comments about Zayn Malik after Logan Paul podcast: ‘He’s my brother’

Liam Payne has continued to comment on his relationship with Zayn Malik following his appearance on Logan Paul’s podcast.

The former One Direction star recently appeared on an episode of the content creator’s show, where he discussed topics including the boy band’s origins and his past romance with Cheryl.

At one point during the chat, Paul brought up the topic of Payne’s former bandmate Malik, referencing a heated situation between Malik and his brother Jake that transpired in 2020.

As part of the discussion, Payne commented on Malik’s relationship with Gigi Hadid, claiming, “There are many, many reasons I don’t like Zayn and there are many reasons I will always always be by his side.”

Another comment by Payne is believed to have been in reference to claims that Malik “slapped” Hadid’s mother Yolanda during an altercation last year. Malik, who has a daughter with Hadid, vehemently denied the claim.

On Thursday (June 2), Payne addressed his comments on the podcast with posts on social media.

“Guys – I wouldn’t normally comment on these things but when it comes to your family it’s hard to let it slide,” Payne’s tweet began.

“You mentioned a specific incident with Zayn, which I responded to — but in listening, I may not have articulated it as well as I could have.”

The “Strip That Down” singer continued his message in another tweet, clarifying that ultimately he still stands with Malik.

“I’ve said there will always be things we don’t agree on, but that I will always, always be on his side,” he wrote.

“This is family. Zayn is my brother and I will stand by him forever.”

Initially, some fans called Payne about his remarks during the interview, accusing him of talking “crap” about his former bandmates while mostly keeping quiet about the details of their time with One Direction.

In response to Payne’s new tweets, many of his supporters were sympathetic. One fan wrote: “We all make mistakes but not everyone knows how to spot them. I don’t agree with what he did, but I think people should treat people with kindness.”
