A Long Island man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after admitting to sexually abusing children at his wife’s home daycare.
Angel Tacuri, 53, pleaded guilty to sexually abusing eight children, ages 3 to 10, and was convicted Thursday, according to Suffolk County prosecutors.
The perverted behavior took place in his wife’s unlicensed business for five years beginning in 2010.
District Attorney Raymond Tierney attacked the creepy convict for “traumatizing” innocent children.
“This defendant took the innocence of young children and traumatized them in the process to satisfy his depraved desires and they will never get that back,” Tierney said in a statement.
“This lengthy sentence guarantees that the defendant is no longer capable of harming children and ensures that he will be monitored for years after his release from prison.”
Tacuri pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree sexual conduct against a child, one count of criminal first-degree sexual conduct, and two counts of first-degree sexual abuse.
He was accused of bullying six children in June 2021, but two more came forward afterwards, prosecutors said.
In addition to 20 years in a prison cell, he was sentenced to 20 years of post-release supervision, prosecutors said.
Before his plea, Tacuri faced 50 years in prison, Suffolk County Police said when he was first charged last year.
