Lexus SUV driver killed in Durham road accident

DURHAM, NC (WNCN) – The driver of a Lexus SUV was killed Saturday night when he was involved in a traffic accident on Guess Road, police said.

Around 9:30 p.m., the driver of a 2014 Lexus GX460 was traveling north on Guess Road as he attempted to overtake a 2016 Ford Fusion, police said.

The Lexus cut off the Fusion’s right rear panel, sending the SUV over the center and south lanes before overturning and hitting the Eno River Bridge, police said.

The driver of the Lexus, who has not been identified, was killed in the accident.

The driver of the Fusion and his passenger were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Durham Police said speed appears to have been a factor in the crash.

The incident is being further investigated.
