Levi Strauss heir Dan Goldman is spending $2 million of his own fortune in the race for Congress

Levi Strauss & Co. heir Dan Goldman invested $2 million of his own fortune in his campaign for a seat in Congress in New York, financial records show.

Goldman poured $1 million into his campaign Wednesday ahead of the Aug. 23 Democratic primary — just days after investing another $1 million, campaign records show.

In addition to the flow of his own money, Goldman’s coffers have been flooded with donations of more than $1.5 million from more than 2,500 individual donors, his campaign confirmed Saturday.

Records show this includes more than $200,000 from relatives and other associates connected to Levi Strauss’s denim empire.

Goldman, the lead counsel for the House of Representatives during former President Donald Trump’s first impeachment, is worth between $64 million and $253 million, according to financial reports. He is running in the newly delineated 10th congressional district, which includes lower Manhattan and part of Brooklyn.

Goldman, whose campaign was further fueled by an influential left-wing endorsement of the New York Times on Saturday, has already dug deep into its war chest to flood the borough with far more television advertising than any of its rivals. His campaign spent $2.3 million between July 1 and August 3 to promote his platform, records show.

Other high-profile candidates in the running are City Councilwoman Carlina Rivera and MP Yuh-Line Niou; suburban Assemblyman Mondaire Jones, who moved to the District; former Brooklyn District Attorney and Rep. Liz Holtzman; Brooklyn Rep. Jo Ann Simon; Parenting activist Maud Maron and military veterinarian and anti-communist China activist Yan Xiong.

The 10th congressional district was redrawn by court order after the Democratic Party’s gerrymandering debacle, with the Upper West Side of Manhattan removed from the district and more portions of Brooklyn added.

Current 10th District Assemblyman Jerry Nadler decided to run for re-election in the newly drawn 12th District against incumbent Carolyn Maloney after the redrawing of boundaries resulted in his UWS turf being cut off from the 10th and merged into the 12th .was folded.
