Letitia Wright slams writer for ‘disgusting’ article, magazine replies

Letitia Wright is done with apologies.

The ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ star has slammed Hollywood Reporter author Scott Feinberg for his recent article, entitled “How Personal Baggage Affects Oscar Odds”.

In the article published Monday, Feinberg detailed how the British actress’ past stance on COVID-19 vaccines and her anti-vax stance could impact her chances of winning an Oscar in 2023. The journalist compared her position to alleged domestic abuser Brad Pitt as well as Will Smith, who is now banned from performing at the Oscars for 10 years after attacking host Chris Rock onstage at the 2022 ceremony.

THR has since responded to Wright’s rebuke in a statement obtained by The Post, though without a direct apology.

The 29-year-old entertainer delivered her diatribe via Instagram Stories.

“I had to unblock @TheHollywoodReporter just to post this,” Wright began.

“Scott Feinberg and everyone at this release. You are incredibly disrespectful. How dare you. They have mentioned my name alongside men accused of abuse and sexual misconduct.”

“I was silent when the world told me to kill myself two years ago for a video I posted and apologized for,” added the Death on the Nile star. “I kept my head down and focused on my craft. And now I’m on the other side of it. Here you are, a so-called journalist we are supposed to trust, putting my name in this nasty article for what?”

She continued, “At this point, a personal revenge on me. I have done nothing wrong but respectfully declined to do interviews with this publication. Stop with your nonsense. I apologized TWO years ago.”

“You lied and said I kept talking about it with my cast and crew on my set. THAT WAS NOT TRUE. ASK MY PRODUCER AND DIRECTOR. The film was successful. Your agenda with me is even clearer now. I will not be silent. Stop your disgusting behavior,” Wright concluded in Monday’s rebuke.

THR Editor-in-Chief Nekesa Mumbi Moody responded to the Post’s request for comment.

Moody said, “I genuinely appreciate the feedback and dialogue surrounding this column. While the intention was not to equate Letitia Wright’s situation with others mentioned in the article, and we underscored this in the story (assigned to Scott), we also understand that some saw it differently. We’ve featured Letitia on our cover and mentioned her great talent in reviews and look forward to continuing her career.”

Wright, for her part, went back to her previous critical statements about the uptake of the COVID-19 vaccine. In a recent profile for The Guardian, she expressed regret at her problematic views.

“I moved on in a healthy way,” she told the outlet. “And in a healthy way, I apologized and deleted my twitter. I was just apologizing for the injury that was caused to someone.”

In 2020, Wright retweeted an anti-COVID vaccine conspiracy clip that caused a stir among fans. The backlash resulted in her deleting her social media accounts.

“If you don’t stick to conventional wisdom. But ask questions and think for yourself… they’ll get cancelled,” she tweeted at the time, complete with a laughing emoji at the end.

Her critics then reportedly called on Disney’s Marvel Studio to fire Wright from the Black Panther franchise for being a “stupid bitch.”
