Lesley Manville has admitted that Judi Dench once made her laugh so hard on stage that she wet herself.
The actors appeared together in a production by Chekhov The cherry orchard at the Aldwych Theater between 1989 and 1990.
Appears on The Graham Norton Show On Friday (October 7), Manville opened up about her longtime friendship with the “cheeky” Dench.
“We were in The cherry orchard and I was alone on stage and she was in the wings trying to make me laugh,” Manville recalled.
“She pretended to be pleasured from behind! I laughed so much I got wet.”
The actor continued, “Luckily I was wearing a long dress, but the stage was askew and I could see my pee dripping down and over the edge into the stalls. She’s so naughty!”
In November, Manville will make her debut as Princess Margaret in the final two seasons of The crown.
The 66-year-old takes on Helena Bonham Carter as the Netflix drama takes us into the 1990s and the aftermath of Prince Charles (Dominic West) and Princess Diana’s (Elizabeth Debicki) divorce.
Her last appearance on stage was in a Tony Kushner production The visit at the National Theater.
