  1. First, make sure you read the care label so you can tailor your laundry to your specific fabric.
  2. After that, you should pre-treat the stain before washing, and cold water should be used for blood stains.
  3. Select the right wash cycle and temperature based on the label, and adjust according to how soiled the bedding is. For example, using a heavy cycle with hot water would be great for removing body oils from the towel.
  4. Do not overload the washing machine, as linens need to be able to move around the drum for cleaning.
  5. Do not use dryer sheets as they make the fabric less absorbent.
  6. Dryer balls are great because they can prevent your load from building up.
  7. Hang sheets on a washing line outside if you can occasionally, as sunlight helps disinfect them and can leave a nice scent if there are no contaminants around.
  8. Iron your sheets to kill any leftover germs and dust mites that have passed the cycle.

Bicarb is not only a natural whitener and deodorizer, but it also means you can use less laundry liquid in each wash.

Vinegar, on the other hand, softens and brightens linens without leaving a residue, Mama Mila claims, so you’ll be able to fall asleep easily as you daydream about your next hotel stay.

While her tip works especially well on white linen, she also says that bicarb works well with light colors as well, and claims that the vinegar smell goes away completely during the wash.
