What if Larry Munson was alive to call the great moments of Georgia football.

Georgia football fans love only one thing as much as their beloved Bulldogs, and that is the late Larry Munson, who was the radio voice of the Dawgs for 42 years, and is immortalized in his memory. Bulldog Nation.

Throughout his career as the Voice of the Bulldogs, Munson has delighted audiences – at home and far away – with his colorful vernacular and hometown style.

“Look at the road falling from the sky!”, “We just stepped on their noses with a nail boot and broke their noses,” and “Lindsay Scott! Lindsay Scott! Lindsay Scott! … Well, I can’t believe it” is one of Munson’s most famous and often repeated calls.

Munson died in 2011, before the end Mark Richt era in Athens, and with that, he is also absent from the rotation run by the current head coach Smart Kirby.

With all due respect to Scott Howard, who has been the Bulldogs radio host since Munson’s retirement in 2008, it’s interesting to wonder how the biggest trainer of them all came to be. could make for some great recent moments in Georgian football history.

Although trying to impersonate Munson can be fun, for this exercise, words will suffice. Just read them in the gruff and unmistakable voice of Larry Munson ringing in your head.

Georgia football moment: Forced to grope to win over Notre Dame in 2017

How might Larry Munson call this play. (Mark 4:38 in the video)

Georgia went to the top with 38 minutes left in the game and a one-point lead. It was an uphill battle there today and the defense had to come down for the last time at Notre Dame Stadium here.

Dawgs has four men on the line and the others have returned to try to keep the Irish from hitting a big battle here. They capture the shadow for Wimbush and he returns. He’s looking in the middle but… gosh!… There’s a Dawg walking around freely and… who is that? It’s Davin Bellamy and he hit Wimbush really hard and wait… the ball’s gone.! Well, the ball is out and who took it?

I cannot speak from above. There were white and blue shirts stacked at the spot where Wimbush dropped the ball and we were waiting for the referee’s signal. It’s too hard to tell who has the ball, but Dawgs seems to think it’s them.

And it is !! It’s Georgia Soccer!! Oh man, Davin Bellamy just broke their hearts with a sack and Georgia will win down the road at Notre Dame when no one plays them a starting shot from freshman defender Jake Fromm.

It’s like these two never stopped playing in the Sugar Bowl in 1981 and just continued to fight where they left off. Man, what a huge win for Dawgs!

Georgia football moment: Sony Michel scores in First Half to win Rose Bowl vs Oklahoma

How Larry Munson could have watched one of the greatest plays in Georgia football history

This man Rose Bowl game has been one heart attack after another. Georgia and Oklahoma both drew in extra time and now the Dawgs have a chance to win and return to Atlanta for the College Rugby Round. All Dawgs needs is a target in the field and this roller coaster will eventually stop.

Dawgs lined up in that line of wild dogs, with Sony Michel set up for live photography. They scored from this formation earlier, possibly lightning, with two strikes here in Southern California.

The ball was put on Michel, he ran to the left, and almost fell behind the line but he got out and… oh my god, Michel has a spot! He’s going down the sideline… 20… 15… 10… 5… and Sony Michel did it on his own and took Georgia to win the Rose Bowl! The boys are jumping over Michel at the end, I hope they don’t hurt him because Dawgs still needs him at least one more game.

Oklahoma fans were stunned and Baker Mayfield looked as if she had just seen the ghost of her grandmother. Well, it’s really run by Michel. What a game of Dawgs. This team is not giving up at all, and the Georgia fans here in Pasadena are just going crazy! Sony Michel has forever put his name in the history of Georgia with that coming to an end.

Bulldog Nation misses you Larry, and it’s great to hear you make these calls. Larry Munson may have called the big moments
