Lance Storz is said to have killed three police officers in a shooting in Kentucky

Three Kentucky police officers and a police dog were killed and at least four other officers were injured in a shootout at the home of a so-called “terrorist on mission.”
Lance Storz, 49, was reportedly taken into custody after a nearly five-hour altercation with officers who showed up at his door in rural Prestonburg with a domestic violence warrant.
Storz, who was armed with a rifle, opened fire in Thursday night’s incident, hitting two officers, the Kentucky State Police said.
Police Captain Ralph Frasure and Deputy William Petry were killed, along with K9 Nelson and canine handler Jacob Chaffin, authorities said.
The situation quickly escalated when Storz barricaded himself inside the home with his wife and daughter and continued to fire at responding officers, police officers said.

Deputies called for assistance and several agencies responded, including state police, officers from neighboring counties and a SWAT team.
“When they arrived, they encountered… pure hell. They didn’t stand a chance,” Floyd County Sheriff John Hunt told reporters. MPs had not even made contact with the suspected gunman when the shooting began, he noted.
The shooter appeared to have a plan and “executed that plan almost to the point of precision,” Hunt said, adding that it took several hours to figure out where the shooter was firing from.

“[The suspect]was a pure terrorist … he was just a terrorist on a mission,” the sheriff said.
Floyd County Attorney Keith Bartley said Friday morning: “These are people. These are people with children, spouses, mothers and fathers, their world will never be the same.”
The standoff ended with the suspect being taken into police custody, WMDJ reported. His wife and daughter were unharmed.

A MP who took cover under a moving patrol vehicle ended up with carbon monoxide poisoning.
Several officials from different agencies were shot and taken to local hospitals. According to local reports, a total of four to six officers were shot dead.
Storz, who is in prison in Pike County, will appear in court July 11.
