Kyrsten Sinema ignores democratic donors who want money back

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-Ariz.) — who faced backlash after changing her party affiliation from Democrat to independent in December — is still facing backlash from Democratic donors, insiders told On the Money.

During attacks, they label “the worst kind of hypocrite”. former colleagues in the Arizona legislature, her campaign is still being pursued by angry Democratic donors who want their money back.

According to a source, angry donors were initially told the campaign was working on it – but now they aren’t even getting their calls back. Neither the senator nor her staff bothers to respond, a source added.

Still, Sinema — which has almost single-handedly challenged the carried-interest loophole that taxes private equity and hedge fund profits lower than other companies — could quash a lavish payday from its Wall Street beneficiaries, some Democratic donors are speculating .

Sinema can also address some GOP types. According to a report in Politico Thursday, Sinema is actively trying to curry favor with GOP donors and has trashed Democrats for doing so as “old guys who eat jello.”

Sources note that she probably realizes there’s no point in ending things on good terms with the Democrats since they won’t be writing her any more checks anyway.

While Sinema has more than $8 million in her war chest, she will need more as she prepares for a 2024 re-election campaign. If word gets out about how she treats her Democratic donors, she could soon have troubles with independent and Republican donors as well, a source speculated.

A spokesman for Sinema did not respond to a request for comment.
