Kyhara Tay has been identified as the 11-year-old who was fatally shot in NYC

The innocent 11-year-old girl who was fatally shot by a gunman on a moped in broad daylight has been identified as Kyhara Tay, police said Tuesday.
Kyhara was visiting a nail salon with a pal just before 5pm on Monday when the gunman opened fire – aiming at another man at Westchester Avenue and Fox Street in Foxhurst, authorities said.
The bullet instead whizzed down the next block and hit the youth in the stomach, police officers said.
Kyhara, who was outside the New Kim Nails on Fox Street when she was shot, went into the salon after the shot and passed out, according to witnesses.
“She was right next to me when it happened,” said the girlfriend’s friend, 18-year-old Lillian Johnson.
“She was shot and then came into the store… like she was trying to escape the shots. She held her stomach and said, “Ow!”
Kyhara soon passed out, Johnson said.

“She sat in the chair and then didn’t respond — she liked to lean into the chair,” Johnson said.
“And then they pulled down their jacket and examined the wound [where] She was shot in the stomach and shortly thereafter passed out on the floor.”
The girl was taken to Lincoln Hospital, where she died.

Fast-moving footage shows the intended target running down the block trying to outrun a duo on a scooter before the man riding in the back of the moped opens fire.
Kyhara is the youngest young victim of gun violence in the city. Several teenagers and children have been shot dead across the five boroughs over the past few months, either on purpose or as innocent bystanders.
