It took me a few days to make this post. Tryna finds the right words,” Cudder wrote on Instagram along with a series of photos of the two together and the rapper wearing some of Abloh’s Louis Vuitton designs on stage. “Virgil is the kindest, warmest soul I have ever met. He is indeed a visionary, a genius, a DJ and a famous artist, but he is also a truly beautiful human being. I’ve never known anyone quite like him. And I know I never will. Once in your life.”

The second part of the post shows a sincere tribute to Abloh, whom Cudi thanks for being “a true friend and always making me feel special when you send me a message, take the time to let me hang or send some shoes with my name on them. I love you endlessly. Until we meet again my friend. I hope you see what you did. You changed the world forever. You did that. I love you, Virgil. Goodbye My friend.”

Cudi, who walked in this week’s Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2022 show – where he performed his track “Moon” – also shared the pair’s last text exchange from last week. “I’m so glad I have to tell you how I feel about you,” he tweeted. “I’m glad you didn’t leave here unknowingly. I love you Virg FOREVER. ”

In the text exchange below that note, the friends casually talked about the show, with Cudi writing, “Miami gon be a feature film n — a !,” to Abloh replying, “MAJORRRRRR… action movie move.” A few days later, Cudi gave it some more thought, adding, “What good have you got! Want to connect wu about the show and see what you thought for me to wear. I’m going to dye my hair today and wanted a color to match… Hope you had a great thanksgiving with your family!! So grateful to have you in my life. Love you. ”

Abloh shares the love, responding, “Mad love for you G my… Have you had the right time?”

Louis Vuitton’s first US fashion show was a gloomy, strange remembrance for Abloh, just days after his death. The menswear event in Miami, an unofficial kick-off to the prestigious Art Basel fair, has been going on for months and guests include Kim Kardashian West and her daughter North, Ye, rapper formerly known as Kanye West, model Bella Hadid, Joe Jonas, Maluma and Pharrell, with sleek LV monogrammed silver speedboats. Cudi and Erykah Badu performed at a party afterwards.
