Kevin Spacey to be replaced by RRR star Ray Stevenson in Comeback movie

Kevin Spacey has gotten the hook – once again – for being hooked with British courts.

The embattled actor, 63, has been replaced by Thor and RRR actor Ray Stevenson in upcoming movie 1242: Gateway to the West,” Deadline reported, as Spacey faces new sexual assault charges.

The film was briefly anticipated as the Oscar-winner’s comeback after his recent win over actor Anthony Rapp in federal court in Manhattan.

“What an incredible honor to welcome Ray Stevenson, a globally recognized actor with an impressive range and undeniable charisma,” producer Bill Chamberlain said in a statement.

1242: Gateway to the West tells the story of a spiritual man (played by Jeremy Neumark Jones) and his attempt to face the Great Mongol Army led by Batu Khan, grandson of the fearsome Genghis Khan. Instead of Spacey, Stevenson is set to play papal legate Cesareane, a Mongolian spy who acts as a middleman.

The 58-year-old actor appeared as the villain in ‘RRR,’ which was nominated for Best Original Song at the 2023 Oscars.

“Ray is the ideal lead for our film 1242: Gateway to the West; His captivating performances in movies like “RRR” prove that beyond a doubt! We’re honored he’s come on board,” said the film’s other producer, Kornél Sipos. “Together we will create something truly remarkable.”

After his shocking defense against Rapp, 51 – in which he prevailed – Spacey was quickly faced with a further seven sexual assault charges in the UK, allegedly from 2001 to 2004.

According to prosecutors, the new charges include three counts of indecent assault and sexual assault and one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent. The “American Beauty” actor has pleaded not guilty.

The ‘House of Cards’ actor has been honored with a lifetime achievement award by Italy’s National Cinema Museum. In the actor’s first speech since his legal battles began, Spacey thanked the film organization for having “the balls” to invite him.

“1242: Gateway to the West” will be shown at the European Film Market in Berlin.
