KCPD investigates an accident that happened during the night

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City police said one person was seriously injured and another was seriously injured in a collision early Sunday morning.

The incident happened around 3 a.m. Sunday near Highway 71 and E. 39.

A white Cadillac SUV was traveling north on a detour from Highway 71 when it failed to stop at a red light. The SUV then hit a Ford car traveling on E. 39 and gave the green light.

The impact caused both cars to overturn. The four occupants of the Cadillac are described as black men who fled the scene in an unknown direction.

Police said there were six people in the Ford vehicle, two in the front row, two in the back and two in the rear cargo area without seats or safety features.

The female passenger in the front right seat was seriously injured. In addition, a male passenger in the back seat was seriously injured.

According to reports, the driver of the Ford is being investigated for a disability.
