An AN AUTOGRAPH collector believed to have been punched by Kanye West told The Sun: “I’m just trying to live and come home.”
Sources reveal that Justin Poplawski, 40, is a fan involved with a 3 a.m. brawl with rap superstar Kanye early Thursday in Los Angeles.
Kanye, 44, was named a suspect by the LAPD in a battery report following the incident but no arrests have been made so far.
Alleged victim Justin, 40, from St Louis, Missouri but now believed to be living in Illinois, was photographed earlier in the night behind Kanye and his new flame Julia Fox.
Celebrity is passionate about collecting autographs for over 25 years.
He has plenty of selfies with A-list celebrities and VIPs over the years including Leonardo DiCaprio, Taylor Swift, Barack Obama and Adele.
Justin told The Sun: “I really have no comment right now, not at the moment. I still have other things to take care of. Right now I’m just trying to live and come home. ”
When asked if he was feeling shaken by the incident, Justin said: “No comment at the moment.
“I appreciate your concern.”
A man believed to be Justin’s father Joseph was asked about the autograph collector’s side of the story regarding the incident with Kanye and replied, “He’ll find out.”
When asked if the father of four Kanye had offered Justin compensation for the alleged assault, the man believed to be the boy’s father said “I don’t know anything” before hanging up.
Justin’s profile on the Real Autograph Collectors Club website states that collecting celebrity autographs has been his hobby since 1996.
He apparently runs his own celebrity signature business called All-Star Signatures LLC.
Justin wrote on his personal page: “It all started with going to the stadium to meet my favorite baseball players when I was a teenager.
“I quickly realized that my new favorite hobby could be more lucrative than my part-time job at Target. So I started playing hockey and soccer.
“And very quickly, I started getting musicians as they passed through town.
“I started doing trips around the Midwest to get better names that didn’t go through St. Louis.
“Now, I spend several months each year on the road (from NY to LA) acquiring as many signatures as possible to help bring the authentic ones to market.”
The incident happened early Thursday near the Soho Warehouse in downtown LA.
It allegedly happened after Justin asked for Kanye’s autograph a second time after first approaching him outside of Delilah.
Kanye was at the famous night out spot in West Hollywood with Julia, 31 years old, before moving to Soho Warehouse alone, where he was approached again by Justin according to Page Six.
The pair are said to have exchanged words, which are currently being investigated by police, before the rapper is said to have jumped out of his car, called out Justin’s name and then punched him to the ground.
Video of the incident shows Kanye shouting at a female member of his team while the victim is believed to be lying on the ground.
He could be heard shouting “Get away from me” and the female employee replied “Give me your hand”.
Kanye is said to have left before officials arrived at the scene, where a police report was filed.
It is unknown if he spoke to the police about this side of his story.
Justin is said to have recorded the encounter on his phone, which was given to the police and will be investigated.
He is said to have refused medical treatment following the incident.
