CHELSEA is said to have agreed terms with long-term target Jules Kounde with star defender Antonio Rudiger yet to agree a new contract.
The Blues moved to Kounde in the summer but were unable to agree a fee with Sevilla, who want the Premier League club to pay his £68.5m release clause.
Kounde was said to be left fuming about the failed move.
But with Rudiger attracted interest from the likes of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, Chelsea could be looking for Kounde if they decide to buy the German in cash in January to avoid losing him because FREE.
The central defender was said to have turned down a huge £140,000-a-week contract and there is no sign of his future commitment to Chelsea.
According to the journalist Duncan Castle on the Switching Window Podcast, Kounde wants to move to the European champions next month.
He say: “Chelsea continue to pursue him.
“They continue to make it clear that they want to bring him to the Premier League and they are interested in doing so in January.
“Obviously the financial terms are fine, they were accepted in the summer.”
Now a case of playing the game waiting for Kounde.
He has to wait and see if Chelsea are ready to meet the financial demands due to Seville.
Kounde will miss Sevilla’s first game of the new year against Cadiz.
He was sent off in the match against Barcelona because throw the ball in the face of left-back Jordi Alba.
