Wake up Whoopi.
The View co-hosts refused to let Whoopi Goldberg sleep at work during Wednesday’s episode, as Joy Behar criticized her for “checking out” mid-show.
Behar, 80, slammed Goldberg, 66, for approaching the audience and acting disinterested in the host’s round-table conversation.
The jab came during a discussion about how women manage finances with their significant other.
Sunny Hostin, 54, joked that she’s fed up with bills like her kids’ ballet classes or streaming services. Sarah Haines, 45, explained that she and her husband have joint and separate bank accounts.
Meanwhile, Goldberg — whose third marriage ended in 1995 — appeared bored as Hostin and Haines shared their financial circumstances, causing audiences to laugh.
Noticing Goldberg’s sluggish response, Hostin said, “Right, Whoopi?”
“Whoopi checked out an hour ago,” Behar replied.
Goldberg quickly shrugged off the comment and chimed in. “When you’re married, you should always have some money that’s yours,” she replied, adding that spouses shouldn’t have to explain how they use their personal money.
The ‘Sister Act’ star is known for falling out with her ‘View’ co-hosts. Meghan McCain openly blew up Goldberg in her 2021 audio memoir Bad Republican.
“The thing about Whoopi … is that she exudes so much power in culture and television, and once she turns against you, it can create unfathomable tensions at the table,” she said.
“Over the years, I found her open disdain for me more difficult to deal with, and it became more frequent. Occasionally, when the show’s political discourse veered into territory she found uncomfortable, Whoopi would interrupt me, sometimes harshly.”
Recently, there have been a number of spats between co-hosts on The View. On Tuesday, the show was forced to go on commercial break after Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin, 33, got into a heated debate about the midterm elections.
