A jury in Fayetteville, about 140 miles (225 km) northwest of Little Rock, found 33-year-old Duggar guilty of receiving and possessing child pornography. He faces 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 per count when convicted.

U.S. District Judge Timothy Brooks said sentencing would take place in about four months, Fayetteville’s KNWA television station reported.

Duggar and his large Arkansas family starred on TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting” until the network canceled the show in 2015 after it was revealed he had sexually abused four sisters. yourself and a babysitter. The judge in the child pornography case ruled that juries could hear testimony about how in 2003 Duggar admitted to sexually harassing four girls. A family friend testified that Duggar had told her about the abuse.

Federal authorities say they began an investigation after a Little Rock police detective found child pornography files being shared by a computer tracing Duggar. In May, a federal agent testified that images depicting the sexual abuse of children, including toddlers, were downloaded to a computer in 2019 at an auto dealership that Duggar owned. own.

Duggar’s attorney argued that someone downloaded or uploaded the images to Duggar’s computer. But the jury was not shaken.

Jim Bob Duggar, Duggar’s father, who also stars on the reality show, is running in a special election for a vacant state Senate seat in northwest Arkansas. He previously served in Arkansas House.
