Joker director Todd Phillips reveals a first look at Joaquin Phoenix in the movie sequel

The director of upcoming movie Joker: Folie à Deux gave a first glimpse of Joaquin Phoenix’s return as Arthur Fleck through an Instagram post on Saturday.

“Day 1. Our boy. #joker,” Phillips wrote in a simple caption of Phoenix shaving.

Not much is known about the upcoming movie as the plot has been kept under strict wraps. However, Phoenix is ​​known to be reprising his role as deranged villain Arthur Fleck.

The 48-year-old actor is also joined by Lady Gaga, who is said to play villain Harley Quinn, and Brendan Gleeson is reported to have been cast, but in an undisclosed role.

Phillips and his original Joker film managed to garner a whopping 11 Oscar nominations and a Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival. Phoenix received the Oscar for best actor for his performance.

The film is slated to hit theaters on October 9, 2024, exactly five years after the original Joker hit theaters.
