Johnston Co. plane crash survivors are returning home and expected to make a full recovery

SMITHFIELD, NC (WNCN) – Passengers aboard a plane that crashed in Johnston County on Friday are expected to make a full recovery and are now home, Blue Line Aviation confirmed Sunday afternoon.

There were two people on board at the time of the crash, now identified as a commercially licensed instrument instructor and an instrument private pilot, who were immediately taken to hospital for treatment.

According to Captain Jeff Caldwell of the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, both were awake and conscious, but the extent of their injuries was unknown.

Blue Line Aviation, one of the agencies investigating the crash, did not confirm the passengers’ injuries but said one of them was discharged from hospital and the other is in stable condition and receiving medical attention for further monitoring. It was not specified who the instructor or pilot was.
