Johnny Depp appeared alongside Jeff Beck in Sheffield on Sunday (May 29) following the closing arguments in his $50million defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard.
The jury began deliberating on Depp’s lawsuit against his ex-wife last week after the actors’ attorneys presented their closing arguments in the district court in Fairfax County, Virginia.
Depp is suing Heard for alleged defamation over a comment she wrote in 2018 The Washington Post, captioned: “I’ve spoken out against sexual violence — and faced the wrath of our culture.” That needs to change.”
While Depp wasn’t named in the comment, he claims her allegations made it difficult for him to get film roles.
Heard countered by accusing her ex-husband of allegedly organizing a “smear campaign” against her and describing his own lawsuit as a continuation of “abuse and harassment.”
After the six-week process, Depp — who began his career as a musician and formed the band The Hollywood Vampires with Alice Cooper and Joe Perry in 201 — and Beck performed their 2020 collaboration “Isolation,” a reworking of a 1970 John Lennon song. They also performed covers of Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On” and Jimi Hendrix’s “Little Wing”.
according to a meeting Depp could also reportedly join Beck for his next two tour stops at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Monday (May 30) and Tuesday (May 31).
With deliberations beginning on the high-profile civil lawsuit, which was broadcast live, juries will have a three-day weekend to celebrate Memorial Day before resuming on Tuesday, May 31.
If the jury finds that Heard defamed him Aquaman star is ordered to pay Depp compensation for lost earnings – although the court may recommend that he be awarded more or less than the $50 million he is aiming for.
