Johnny Depp is not in talks to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, his rep told Fox News Digital.
The rejection follows a report by Australian gossip site Poptopic, which claimed the 59-year-old Depp was forging a $301 million deal with Disney to appear in the sixth pirate film.
The media outlet attributed the information to an industry insider.
Depp’s legal team at his libel trial against Amber Heard argued that he was dropped from the franchise after his ex-wife penned a 2018 Washington Post op-ed in which she described herself as a victim of domestic violence.
During Depp’s cross-examination, Heard’s attorney, Ben Rottenborn, confronted the actor about a statement he had made to the press.
“If Disney came to you with $300 million and a million alpacas, nothing on earth would make you go back and work with Disney on a Pirates of the Caribbean movie, right?” Rottenborn asked in reference to that Interview.
“That’s right,” he replied. He later said during questioning by his attorney, Camille Vasquez, that he felt cheated by Disney and made the comment after feeling the company had spurned him.
A pair of alpacas wearing pirate hats turned up outside the courthouse during the six-week trial, which ended in a big win for Depp.
The jury awarded the Black Mass star $10.35 million in damages and found that Heard had defamed him by publicly accusing him of domestic abuse.
The panel also presented Heard with $2 million and ruled that Depp had defamed her through a statement from his attorney to the press, in which he called her abuse allegations a “hoax.”
