The 33-year-old, born in Chorley, Lancashire, won the third series of Great British Grill In 2012, 23 years old.
Since then, he’s worked as a baker and television personality, appearing on shows with frequent cooking spots like Lorraine, Steph .’s Packed Lunches, This Morning, What to Cook?, Alan Titchmarsh Show and Sunday Brunch.
In addition to releasing four cookbooks, Whaite also introduced a cooking competition Cut block with Rosemary Shrager on ITV.
On this year’s show, Whaite will be one half of the first all-male collaboration on the show, with an soon-to-be-announced expert from Strict.
Whaite said he’s “grateful, excited and nervous” about taking part Strict after his appearance on the show was confirmed by present Great British Grill co-host Matt Lucas on BBC Radio 2’s breakfast program.
Speaking of her upcoming appearance on the show, Whaite said: “I’ve been wearing sequins and gorgeous outfits since I was three years old and can’t wait to toss myself, at full speed, around the floor Sexiest dance on earth.
“What is more exciting for me, is that I will be one half of the first all-male partnership, which is a huge step forward in representation and inclusion.
“I am pairing with anyone, I hope they are up for a challenge as I want our regular activities to include lots of spectacular lifts!”
