John Travolta wrote an emotional tribute to his late friend and former Grease co-star Olivia Newton-John on her 74th birthday.
The Australian actress died on August 8 at the age of 73 after a long battle with breast cancer.
Newton-John was first diagnosed with cancer in 1992 and again in 2013 and 2017. The disease then progressed to stage 4 and she treated the pain with medical marijuana.
Travolta, 68, took a moment to pay his respects to his late friend and wished Newton-John a happy birthday with a look back at the couple in the hit 1978 film.
“Happy Birthday my Olivia,” he wrote alongside the snap on his Instagram story.
The couple, who both met on the film’s set after landing lead roles, developed a strong friendship that lasted until her death last month.
After news of her death broke, Travolta became the first A-lister to pay tribute to his beloved pal on social media.
“My dearest Olivia,” he wrote on Instagram. “You have made all of our lives so much better. Her impact was incredible. I love you so much.
“See you on the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John.”
In 2018, Travolta told People magazine that the huge success of her flick has helped them stay connected.
“When you share that kind of meteoric success — and nothing has been able to top it — you share a bond,” he said. “I went through her having a child, getting divorced and losing her sister. She made it through me getting married and having kids. It is wonderful and full of memories together.”
