John Travolta can’t sell his Maine mansion

John Travolta has been trying to sell his 20-bedroom, eight-bathroom mansion in Maine for almost two years.
The star first listed the home in February 2021 – seven months after the death of his wife Kelly Preston.
Isleboro-based Travolta has kept the initial price of $5 million despite a brief moment off the market.
Travolta, 68, designed the home with Preston in 1991 when they were newly married.
Kirstie Alley, his late co-star and fellow Scientologist from Look Who’s Talking, was the one who first showed them the property back then.
The whimsical property spans 10,830 square feet and has been transformed from the “creepy,” “dark,” and “gloomy” historic home into the ultimate vacation spot, a place where they can host their family of 55, the couple told 1999 Architectural Digest.
The Grease star called it the “60-day marathon” of renovations – from the moment they bought the house in September so it would be ready in time to host her family for Christmas.

Built in 1903, the 42 room cottage style home has been completely remodeled and features a fieldstone fireplace in the living room, built-in bar area, large dining room with fireplace and kitchen with walk-in refrigerator.

Set on 48 acres, the outdoor areas feature open fields with ocean views, a private dock on Sabbathday Harbor, walking trails, and garden areas, according to the listing.
The master bedroom has a private sundeck with an ensuite bathroom that is equipped with a claw foot tub and separate shower.

“The entire third floor of the home is a magical playroom with four separate themed bedrooms and a full bathroom, a schoolhouse, library, diner and a stage for endless entertainment,” the listing reads.
The guarded house, known as the Drexel Estate, has a square tower with a steep gabled roof. According to the National Register of Historic Places, it is unique in its juxtaposition of Tudor and clapboard styles.
During the renovations, children and family were at the heart of the design as Preston was pregnant with their first child, Jett. (Jett died of a seizure in 2009 at the age of 16.)

It was insane – but so much fun,” Preston told AD. After the first Christmas, they brought in interior designer Christopher B. Boshears to make the mansion cozier.
Preston died after a two-year battle with breast cancer. The couple kept their diagnosis a secret until their deaths.
The couple met on the set of the 1989 film The Experts and had three children together.

Preston’s unique flair can be seen throughout the home, making it easy to see why the Pulp Fiction star would sell the home after her death after nearly three decades of marriage.
Brian Wickenden of Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty holds the listing.
Meanwhile, the two-time Oscar nominee sold one of his Clearwater, Florida mansions for $4 million in August 2021.
Travolta also owns a $3 million property near Scientology headquarters in Clearwater, Florida; a home near Jumbolair Private Airport in Ocala, Florida and a $2.7 million mansion in Calabasas, California. He also recently sold his Brentwood, Los Angeles mansion to Scooter Braun for $18 million.
