Joe Rogan stabs Trump over ‘Ron DeSanctimonious’ nickname: ‘Not a good one’

Podcast star Joe Rogan mocked Donald Trump for losing touch with nicknames by branding Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis “Ron DeSanctimonious.”

Rogan poked fun at Trump while discussing the top candidates for the 2020 Republican nomination with his guest, comedian and writer Bridget Phetasy.

“He calls him Ron DeSanctimonious. It’s not a good one,” Rogan said on last Wednesday’s episode of The Joe Rogan Experience.

“He’s losing touch with the nicknames,” Phetasy replied.

Rogan argued that DeSantis’ strong leadership in Florida State left Trump without much material.

“There isn’t a good one you can find for Ron. He’s too good with that base and his success in Florida is pretty unprecedented,” Rogan added.

Rogan first expressed his support for DeSantis’ presidential nomination during an episode of his podcast last June, saying the governor had done an “admirable” job of running Florida.

The podcast host has also stepped up his criticism of Trump over the past year, calling the former president a “man baby” last July.

Trump has repeatedly used the nickname “DeSanctimonious” in recent weeks when targeting DeSantis. The former president has a penchant for giving derisive nicknames to political rivals, with “Crooked” Hillary Clinton and “Sleepy” Joe Biden among his favorites.

DeSantis is considered the likely front-runner for the GOP nomination, though the Florida governor is yet to enter the race. Trump announced last November that he would run for president again.

Earlier this month, Trump denied a New York Times report that said he had begun referring to DeSantis as “meatball Ron.”

“I will never call Ron DeSanctimonious ‘meatball’ Ron, as the fake news insists,” Trump said at 1 a.m. on his social media platform Truth Social.

“Though FoxNews adores him for killing lightweight Paul Ryan, low energy Jeb Bush is his hero and always by his side, his beaches and state have been closed for a long time, his testing, testing, testing for the China virus has not . If that doesn’t work so well and his loyalty skills are really weak, it would be totally inappropriate to use the word “meatball” as a nickname for Ron!”
