Joe Rogan is back to vaccine bashing.
Podcasting provocateur interviewed premium cable expert Bill Maher on ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ in this weekand the two critics appeared to find common ground on the COVID-19 vaccine.
“I don’t trust them to tell me the truth about what they put in there,” said Maher, host of HBO’s Real Time.
“Most people give us too much credit for where we are medically,” he said. “I think we’re still in the early stages of understanding how the human body works. So don’t tell me things like, ‘Just do what we say, don’t question it. When have we ever been wrong?’ A LOT,” he concluded.
“The whole time!” reiterated Rogan, who inspired hundreds of medical experts to issue a public statement condemning Spotify for spreading Rogan’s dangerous “misinformation,” which subsequently led to a high-profile boycott of the streaming platform, including by artists Neil Young and Joni Mitchell.
Their endorsement may come as no surprise, given the media portrayal of Rogan as an agent of “misinformation”; Maher, meanwhile, has become increasingly alienated from the liberal audiences who once counted on Real Time for the voice of reason. On his show earlier this year, the 65-year-old former comedian criticized the “medical-industrial complex” for spreading “misinformation” about COVID-19 in the early days of the pandemic, when little was understood about the novel coronavirus.
In this week’s conversation with Rogan, Maher also posed as a health expert and said sardonically, “‘We are absolutely positive that this vaccine is safe!’ You don’t bloody well know that!”
Rogan, meanwhile, added Maher’s argument, noting that drug companies that make vaccines make an “insane” profit. He also suggested drugs will be tested less rigorously than some have been in the past.
“They have taken hundreds of drugs off the market,” Maher said.
“All the time,” Rogan replied. “They do that every year.”
